I'm definitely between steps 4 and 5

A boy begins his wondrous journey.
He perseveres.
Math cannot become any more difficult than this, can it?
Yes.
Yet he does not give up!
For a brief moment, there is a glimmer of comprehension.
Actual midair pedalling.
The plummet.
